South Korean shooter Hong Su-hyeon (Gangwon State Office) has advanced to the final of the men's 10m air pistol individual event at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.
Hong scored 581 points (with 16 inner 10s) in the preliminary round of the men's 10m air pistol individual event held at the Aichi Prefectural Shooting Range in Japan on the 24th, placing 8th overall.
Hong secured the final ticket to the medal round, which is awarded to the top 8 competitors.
Muhammad Iqbal Raia Prabowo (589 points, Indonesia) finished 1st overall, while Bu Shuhang (583 points, 21 inner 10s, China) and Sultanul Aulia Maruf (583 points, 16 inner 10s, Indonesia) took 2nd and 3rd place, respectively.
So Seung-seob (Seosan City Hall), who competed alongside Hong, finished 22nd with 572 points, and Kim Tae-young (Daegu Public Facilities Management Corporation) placed 44th with 563 points, failing to advance to the final.
In the team event, South Korea combined the scores of Hong Su-hyeon, So Seung-seob, and Kim Tae-young for a total of 1,716 points, placing 8th among 15 teams and missing out on a medal.
China and Indonesia both scored 1,743 points, but China claimed the gold medal by leading in inner 10s with 70 to 57.
Indonesia took the silver medal, while Japan earned the bronze medal with 1,730 points.
For North Korea, Rim Ryu-song (575 points, 17th), Kim Sung-guk (574 points, 20th), and Heo Serim (573 points, 21st) combined for a total of 1,722 points to finish 6th in the team event, but none of the three athletes advanced to the individual final.
Hong, the only South Korean athlete to reach the final, will compete for a medal in the individual final scheduled for 3:45 p.m. today.
In the preliminary round of the mixed team skeet event held on the same day, the duo of Jang Kuk-hee (KT) and Lee Jong-jun (Chungcheongnam-do Sports Council) combined for 143 points, advancing to the final in 2nd place behind Qatar (145 points).
The Jang-Lee pairing will compete for medals in the final against Qatar, China (140 points), and India (138 points) at 2:45 p.m.
