Fire at Yangju Apartment Leaves Man in His 60s With Third-Degree Burns

A fire broke out at an apartment in Yangju, Gyeonggi Province, at around 5:19 a.m. today (September 24).

The fire was completely extinguished about 50 minutes later at around 6:07 a.m.

As a result of the fire, a man in his 60s residing in the affected unit was rescued in an unconscious state and transported to a hospital with third-degree burns across his entire body.

He reportedly regained consciousness while being transported to the hospital.

Additionally, 53 nearby residents evacuated, three of whom inhaled smoke but were not transported to a hospital.

Authorities determined that approximately 60 percent of the interior of the fire-damaged unit was burned down.

Fire authorities are investigating the exact cause of the fire and the scale of property damage.
