The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) announced that it received reports of a cargo ship being struck by a projectile in the Strait of Hormuz on the 23rd local time.
According to the UKMTO, the security officer of a cargo ship reported that the vessel was hit by an unidentified projectile.
The ship, which caught fire due to the strike, has reportedly lost control and is currently drifting.
All crew members evacuated the vessel, but two casualties were confirmed to have occurred during the process.
No environmental damage, such as marine pollution, has been reported thus far.
The UKMTO urged vessels passing through nearby waters to exercise extreme caution and advised them to immediately report any suspicious activity to the organization.
