South Korean fencing star Oh Sang-uk captured the gold medal with a thrilling come-from-behind victory. Having achieved back-to-back individual sabre titles, Oh will now aim for his second consecutive double crown in the upcoming team event.

Oh advanced to the final with unstoppable momentum to face China's Shen Chenpeng.
Attempting a quick attack right at the start of the match, he collided with his opponent and sprained his ankle.
After receiving medical treatment, Oh returned to the piste, even displaying sportsmanship by helping his opponent up when he fell. However, he fell behind 13-11, making for a tough battle.

In the crisis, following SBS commentator Gu Bon-gil's wishes, he launched an aggressive attack to close the gap to a single point, and then leveled the score at 13-13 using his signature long lunge thrust.
Riding the momentum, Oh roared in celebration after successfully turning the tables to lead 14-13, and then extended his leg fully for the final attack.

Having secured his first Asian Games individual title at the previous Hangzhou Games by halting senior teammate Gu Bon-gil's bid for a fourth consecutive individual title, Oh has now reached the top for the second straight time. Meanwhile, the South Korean men's sabre team achieved the feat of winning five consecutive titles in this event.
Following his double crown at the Hangzhou Games and the Paris Olympics, Oh once again proved himself as the leading figure of South Korean fencing, and he will now challenge for a fourth consecutive team title and his second gold of the current competition.
