The South Korean women's national handball team has continued its smooth sailing toward reclaiming the Asian Games title for the first time in eight years.
Led by head coach Lee Gye-chung, the national team secured a massive 30-goal victory, defeating Uzbekistan 43-13 (22-8, 21-5) in their third match of the tournament's round-robin stage held today (the 23rd) at the Kasugai City Gymnasium in Aichi Prefecture, Japan.
With their third consecutive win, South Korea is now tied with Japan, with whom they are competing for the championship.
Lee Won-jeong (Daegu Metropolitan City Hall), along with Lee Yeon-kyung and Jeon Ji-yeon (both of Samcheok City Hall), combined for 14 points based on a 100 percent scoring success rate.
In addition, Cho Eun-bin (Seoul City Hall, 7 points) and Kim Min-seo (Samcheok City Hall, 6 points) led the scoring attack.
South Korea will play its fourth match against China, which has shown remarkable recent improvement, on the 25th at 5:30 p.m. at Entrio Inazawa in Aichi Prefecture.
