i-dle's SOYEON has fulfilled her previous pledge to hold a vegetable mukbang after her first full-length album title track, "I'm gonna TOESA" (Narr. Kian84), claimed the number one spot on the MelOn TOP100 chart.
On the 22nd, SOYEON appeared on an i-dle official YouTube channel live broadcast and explained why she made the vegetable buffet mukbang pledge for topping the music charts, sharing, "I was so nervous hosting my first-ever radio host gig that I ended up talking nonsense. At the time, I honestly didn't think we would hit number one, so I just threw it out casually. But right after saying it, I got this anxious feeling thinking, 'Wait, this might actually make it to number one.'"
Known for her dislike of vegetables, SOYEON has previously made her strong preferences clear, even surprise-releasing the "Anti-Vegetable Song" last month.
SOYEON stated, "I naturally had to keep my number one pledge. I hate breaking promises more than anything in the world." She then took on a full course of vegetable-based dishes, starting with appetizers of broccoli with red chili paste, carrot and apple juice, chilled cucumber soup, fresh spring rolls, and witch soup, followed by the Moroccan home-style main dish, and finishing with desserts including carrot cake, freeze-dried vegetable chips, and green beans.
SOYEON had a particularly tough time with the chilled cucumber soup. She recalled, "When I was young and said I wanted to eat cold naengmyeon, my mom made me chilled cucumber soup instead," adding that she suffered the moment she took a bite and immediately reached for water, bringing laughter to viewers.
Towards the end of the broadcast, she also shared her thoughts on working on this album. SOYEON explained, "I had a lot of worries asking myself, 'Am I someone who can do well on my own?' While I felt confident producing for others, producing for myself felt overwhelming. I went out of my way to seek out composers with completely different styles, worked again with people I've collaborated with for a long time, and even tried making things completely by myself, going through various attempts."
Meanwhile, "I'm gonna TOESA" (Narr. Kian84) is the title track of SOYEON's first full-length album, "What a Wonderful Life", released on the 7th. With its relatable yet warm melody and honest lyrics, it has continued to receive steady love since its release as an anthem that resonates with office workers.
