A hiker, presumed to have fallen near Gwongeumseong in Seoraksan National Park, has been found in a state of cardiac arrest.
According to the Seoraksan National Park Office today (September 23), a report was received at 8:18 PM yesterday from a cable car operator stating that a hiker, identified as A, who had taken the cable car up to Gwongeumseong, had not descended.
In response, the park office began searching the Gwongeumseong area yesterday, and during a search using drones and other equipment this morning, they discovered a person presumed to be A.
The location where the person was found is reportedly about 70 meters away from the upper part of Gwongeumseong.
Fire authorities, who received a report of the fall accident from the park office at 10:09 AM today, are currently conducting rescue operations using a helicopter.
The person presumed to be A was reportedly found in a state of cardiac arrest.
Authorities plan to investigate the identity of the person found and the exact circumstances of the accident once the rescue operation is completed.
