PGA Tour's South Korean trio—Kim Si-woo, Im Sung-jae, and Kim Joo-hyung—are set to compete in the Presidents Cup, a prestigious golf showdown against the world's strongest U.S. Team.
Held biennially, the Presidents Cup is a team competition pitting the U.S. Team against the International Team. This year's tournament will take place over four days starting on the 24th local time at Medinah Country Club Course No. 3 (Par 70, 7,548 yards) in Chicago, Illinois, USA.
The event consists of nine foursomes matches, nine four-ball matches, and 12 singles match-play matches. Each match win awards 1 point, a draw 0.5 points, and a loss 0 points.
The first team to reach 15.5 points will claim the championship trophy.
The International Team, which includes Korean players such as Kim Si-woo, has struggled against the U.S. Team with a historical record of 1 win, 1 draw, and 13 losses.
However, Kim Si-woo and Im Sung-jae, who have already played in three Presidents Cup tournaments up to 2024, alongside 24-year-old young gun Kim Joo-hyung with two previous appearances, are ready to inject vitality into the International Team.
Kim Si-woo holds a Presidents Cup record of 6 wins and 5 losses, Im Sung-jae 6 wins, 7 losses, and 2 draws, and Kim Joo-hyung 3 wins, 5 losses, and 1 draw.
Japanese standout Hideki Matsuyama and veteran Adam Scott (Australia) will also bolster the International Team.
In addition, this year's British Open champion Ryan Fox (New Zealand), along with new International Team members Nico Echavarria (Colombia), Ryo Hisatsune (Japan), and Nick Taylor (Canada), have joined the squad.
The U.S. Team features formidable players led by world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and Wyndham Clark, who secured three PGA Tour victories this year, including the U.S. Open.
Furthermore, Collin Morikawa, who has notched 6 wins and 2 losses in just two appearances, alongside Xander Schauffele, Justin Thomas, and Patrick Cantlay—each with 10 wins across three appearances—stand out as highly threatening competitors.
