Actor Sul Kyung-gu shared the reason why he broke down in tears at the Venice International Film Festival.
Attending the press screening and conference for the movie "Possible Love" held at Yongsan CGV in Seoul on the afternoon of the 21st, Sul Kyung-gu spoke about shedding tears after the official screening at the Venice International Film Festival, saying, "That was the second time I was watching the movie, and I found myself getting even more immersed than when I saw it at the technical screening in Korea."
He continued, explaining the situation, "Towards the latter half of the movie, as Mi-ok (played by Jeon Do-yeon) is seen finding a glimmer of hope, I thought to myself, 'Is there really hope for us, too?' My heart was deeply moved by the ending scene featuring the moon, and as the audience even gave (passionate) applause, the time we filmed in Goheung flashed before my eyes like a panorama. That is when my tears burst out."
True to his words, Sul Kyung-gu wept profusely after the premiere screening of "Possible Love" at the Venice International Film Festival. Zo In-sung, who watched this scene closely from beside him, also reddened with emotion. Jeon Do-yeon, who was there together with them, showed a look of surprise at both actors' tears.
Sul Kyung-gu drew laughter by saying, "I stayed in Seoul for a brief moment after returning from Venice and before leaving for Toronto, and I received so many messages back then that it was embarrassing. Fortunately, Zo In-sung cried along with me. Jeon Do-yeon told me she didn't get a chance to cry because I was crying too much."
"Possible Love" tells the story of a laid-off worker and his wife, alongside a documentary director and her husband, two couples who meet to produce a documentary and confront their different lives and hidden desires. It won the Silver Lion (Grand Jury Prize), which is the second-highest prize, at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival that closed on the 12th.
The movie is scheduled to be released in select theaters on September 23 and will be released on Netflix on November 6.
