The diplomatic authorities of South Korea, the United States, and Japan have discussed response measures regarding North Korea's ballistic missile launches.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday (Sept. 21), Baek Yong-jin, director general for Korean Peninsula policy at the ministry, held phone consultations earlier in the day with David Wilezol, U.S. deputy assistant secretary of state for Japan and Korea, and Ariyoshi Takashi, deputy director-general of the Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau at Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, sharing relevant information.
North Korea fired one short-range ballistic missile (SRBM) each from the Wonsan area into the East Sea at around 3 p.m. and 5:50 p.m. yesterday.
The two missiles flew approximately 450 kilometers and more than 600 kilometers, respectively, and both are presumed to be Hwasong-11-class missiles.
