Police also found that instead of actually living in the permanent rental apartment allocated to them, A lived in their child's home and rented out the apartment to someone else, collecting a total of about 5.7 million won in rental income.
As cases of illegally receiving welfare benefits while concealing changes in income or assets continue, the amount to be recovered is also increasing.
The amount decided for the recovery of illegally received basic livelihood security benefits surged by over 37%, rising from 18.2 billion won in 2022 to exceeding 25 billion won last year.
