US Indo-Pacific Command on North Korean Missile: "Aware of Launch, Closely Consulting with Allies"

The US Indo-Pacific Command stated on the 20th local time regarding North Korea's ballistic missile launch that it "is aware of the launch and is consulting closely with allies and partners."

The Indo-Pacific Command added in a statement that "our assessment is that this event does not pose an immediate threat to US personnel, territory, or our allies," while emphasizing that "the US remains committed to the defense of the US homeland and our regional allies."

This is consistent with previous statements issued by the Indo-Pacific Command in response to North Korea's missile launches.

Since the beginning of the year, the Indo-Pacific Command has been issuing statements focused on close consultations with allies, omitting content condemning North Korea's missile launches.

North Korea launched two ballistic missiles into the East Sea at an interval of about three hours on the 20th Korean time.

Interpretations suggest this was a show of force timed ahead of US President Donald Trump's UN General Assembly speech scheduled for the 22nd and the US-China summit to be held on the 24th.
