▲ Kane Achieves Milestone
Harry Kane, the star striker for German professional football club Bayern Munich, has scored his 100th career goal in the Bundesliga in the fewest matches ever.
Starting in the fourth round home match of the Bundesliga against Union Berlin held at the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany, today (September 19), Kane exploded with a multi-goal performance to contribute to Munich's 7-0 landslide victory.
Kane scored his 100th Bundesliga goal from a penalty kick in the 39th minute of the first half while his team was leading 1-0.
Having left Tottenham Hotspur (England) in 2023 to wear the Munich uniform, Kane has made 98 Bundesliga appearances up to today.
Showing phenomenal scoring prowess of averaging one goal per game, Kane wrote a new page in history by surpassing Dieter Muller's record of 129 games for 100 goals.
Not stopping there, Kane headed in a cross from Michael Olise in the 9th minute of the second half to score his 101st goal.
After the match, Kane credited his fellow attackers, saying, "Playing alongside Michael (Olise), Luis (Diaz), and Jamal (Musiala) means I am bound to get chances," and added, "Having more goals than games played is definitely a great record."
Regarding the potential extension of his contract with Munich, which is set to expire at the end of this season, he responded positively: "I am very happy here. Negotiations are ongoing and will continue for the time being."
While Kane set a monumental record, Olise was also more than enough to draw attention.
Receiving a pass from Musiala in the 43rd minute of the first half, Olise shook the net with a left-footed first-time mid-range shot, and went on to score consecutive goals in the 28th and 31st minutes of the second half to complete a hat trick.
National team defender Kim Min-jae, who plays for Munich, stepped onto the pitch as a substitute for Dayot Upamecano at the start of the second half, playing until the final whistle and contributing to a clean sheet.
In the 15th minute of the second half, Jeong Woo-yeong was substituted on in place of Union Berlin's Livan Burcu, bringing about a "Korean derby."
Accumulating 10 points with 3 wins and 1 draw to start the season, Munich climbed to the top of the league table.
