As the fire that broke out at a logistics center near the Gyeongin Aracheon waterway in Incheon threatens to grow, firefighting authorities have raised the response level to Level 2.
According to the Incheon Fire Headquarters, the fire started at around 2:40 PM today (the 18th) at a logistics center near the Gyeongin Aracheon waterway in Gyeongseo-dong, Seohae-gu, Incheon.
No casualties have been reported so far, but 34 people, including logistics center personnel, have evacuated.
Fire authorities issued a Level 1 response at around 3:20 PM, but considering the possibility that the flames would not be brought under control and could spread, they issued a Level 2 response effective at 6:25 PM.
A Level 1 response mobilizes all personnel from the jurisdiction's fire station, while a Level 2 response is an emergency alert that mobilizes personnel and equipment from 5 to 6 neighboring fire stations in addition to the jurisdiction.
It is reported that firefighting efforts are facing difficulties because the burning warehouse is stacked with large quantities of furniture and cosmetics.
Fire authorities are conducting firefighting operations by dismantling the sandwich panel building structures and spraying extinguishing water inside.
Seohae-gu issued a safety advisory text message stating, "A fire has broken out at a logistics center, generating a large amount of smoke," and urged, "Nearby residents should evacuate and vehicles should detour."
