President Lee Jae-myung has approved the appointment of Supreme Court Justice nominee Kim Sung-soo.
Cheong Wa Dae Senior Spokesperson Kang Yu-jung announced President Lee's approval of the appointment motion in a press notice today (September 18).
Earlier, the National Assembly passed the motion endorsing Kim's appointment during a plenary session yesterday (September 17), with 227 votes in favor, 28 against, and 13 abstentions out of 268 lawmakers present.
Supreme Court Chief Justice Cho Hee-dae recommended Kim to President Lee on August 18 as the successor to outgoing Supreme Court Justice Lee Heung-gu.
With President Lee's approval, Kim has become the first Supreme Court justice appointed since the launch of the Lee Jae-myung administration.
