A heartwarming story about DJ and producer DJ Tukutz (Kim Jung-sik, 44) of the group Epik High has belatedly come to light, drawing attention.
Recently, a netizen shared a video on social media saying, "I hope this story reaches Epik High's DJ Tukutz," and revealed the comfort they received from DJ Tukutz during a moment of despair.
The netizen shared, "This is a story from 8 or 9 years ago. I briefly made music, but thinking I lacked talent, I temporarily gave up on my dream. For some reason, I don't know why, I sent a final DM (direct message) to DJ Tukutz asking him to listen to my music just once."
Not long after, an unexpected reply came from DJ Tukutz. He sent a message saying, "Jin-woo, don't give up and keep going," and directly uploaded the netizen's song to his Instagram. Coincidentally, that day was DJ Tukutz's birthday.
The netizen expressed gratitude, saying, "I wondered why he would do something like this for someone who knew nothing about me. I gained the courage to live during a depressing period. It was the greatest comfort I have ever received," adding, "I don't know if my sincerity will reach him, but I will quietly support him and remain a fan."
The post from DJ Tukutz's Instagram on November 19, 2018, revealed by the netizen, featured the netizen's song along with the caption, "The song is good. I'll take this song as my birthday present. #HBDTM #HappyBirthday."
Netizens who saw this left praise-filled comments such as, "As expected, the leader is different," and, "He grumbles on the outside but is warm on the inside."
DJ Tukutz debuted with Epik High in 2003 and is a veteran producer marking his 22nd year since debut this year. He is also well-known as the hip-hop scene's one and only official "FAKE MC," and recently showed a new side of himself after being chosen as the leader of Epik High.
