Police have launched an investigation into the death of a person in their 60s who suffered cardiac arrest while undergoing a sedative upper endoscopy at a clinic in Hwasun-gun, South Jeolla Province.
According to the Hwasun Police Station on September 18, a person in their 60s, identified as A, suddenly showed symptoms of cardiac arrest at around 9:29 a.m. the previous day while undergoing a sedative upper endoscopy at a clinic in Hwasun-eup.
A was transported to a nearby hospital by 119 emergency responders who arrived following a report from the clinic, but ultimately passed away.
Police stated that whether A had any underlying chronic medical conditions has not yet been confirmed, and no individuals have been booked in connection with the incident so far.
Police plan to request an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death while transferring the case to the Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency to pursue a full-scale investigation.
