The movie "The Intern" (directed by Kim Do-young), starring actors Choi Minsik and Han So-hee, has claimed the number one spot at the box office for the second consecutive day.
According to the Korean Film Council's integrated cinema ticket computer network on the 18th, "The Intern" maintained its top box office ranking by drawing 46,155 moviegoers the previous day (the 17th). Its cumulative audience has reached 128,721.
"The Intern" depicts an office life that crosses generations and job ranks, beginning when 37-year-old silver intern Keeho (played by Choi Minsik) joins the company of Seon-woo (played by Han So-hee), who rapidly emerged as a dark horse in the fashion industry three years after launch.
After debuting at number one on its opening day with over 60,000 viewers, "The Intern" saw its daily audience drop to the 40,000 range on its second day. Securing the top spot over its first weekend, along with gathering as many viewers as possible, is crucial for surviving the upcoming competition against new releases targeting the Chuseok holiday.
Taking the number two spot at the box office was "The Odyssey," which drew 39,365 viewers on the same day. Its cumulative audience reached 10,960,848, surpassing "Exhuma" (cumulative audience of 11,913,725) to rank 21st in box office history.
