Kim Doyoung, the top star who served as the leadoff hitter in the last WBC, is set to spearhead the attack once again at the upcoming Asian Games.
Manager Ryu Ji-hyun has pulled out the "Kim Doyoung leadoff card" once more to bolster the team's offensive firepower.
Ahead of a practice game against Sangmu on September 17, national team manager Ryu Ji-hyun announced that he will deploy Kim Doyoung in the leadoff spot for the Asian Games to strengthen the offense.
Kim, who primarily bats third for his KBO club KIA, previously played a solid role as the leadoff hitter during the last WBC.
Believing he will perform well this time as well, Kim started as the leadoff hitter in today's practice game against Sangmu, going hitless in four at-bats.
The national team secured a comeback victory in the eighth inning with doubles from Park Jun-soon and Keonhee, wrapping up their final tune-up on a high note before departure tomorrow.
