People Power Party leader Jang Dong-hyeok, addressing public criticism surrounding ministerial nominees who have completed confirmation hearings, urged, "President Lee Jae-myung should immediately withdraw this botched cabinet reshuffle and carry out a sweeping overhaul of the cabinet and the presidential office."
At the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly, Jang said, "At this rate, it is a cabinet reshuffle better left undone."
He continued, "The confirmation hearing for Justice Minister nominee Kim Seung-won was an embarrassing, low-grade comedy to watch. Not a single issue—stock manipulation, living human experimentation on citizens, or family cooperatives—was clarified," criticizing, "The Defense Minister nominee, a 'commando against evicted residents,' is literally a 'political soldier,' and the Finance Minister nominee and Land Minister nominee are 'Lee Jae-myung avatars.'"
Jang said, "The worst-ever server error crisis during rolling admissions applications was a pure catastrophe for test-takers and their parents. This is clearly a man-made disaster that failed to prevent a foreseeable accident," calling for the immediate resignation of the Education Minister, a comprehensive probe to determine the cause, and relief measures for all affected students.
He added, "The People Power Party will immediately form a 'College Admissions Fairness Task Force' directly under the party leader to investigate cases of damage alongside experts from various fields, and seek relief measures for test-takers as well as practical improvement plans."
Regarding the 'single-stock leveraged ETF' controversy, Jang asserted, "At a meeting called in January by former Senior Presidential Secretary for Policy Kim Yong-beom with officials from the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Financial Services Commission, the Financial Supervisory Service, and securities firms, no one proposed single-stock leveraged ETFs. In the end, there is a 99.9% probability that Kim Yong-beom proposed and pushed for it," claiming, "There is no way President Lee was unaware."
He said, "Responsibility must be thoroughly investigated, from the president and the presidential office to the Office for Government Policy Coordination, the Financial Services Commission, and the Financial Supervisory Service," adding, "The People Power Party will push for a special counsel investigation into the Lee Jae-myung administration's ETF-gate."
