On Wednesday (September 16), Jung Kyu-jae, standing advisor to The Korea Economic Daily, and Kim Jin-ai, chairperson of the Presidential Commission on Architecture Policy, appeared on a communication program organized by Cheong Wa Dae and offered advice on the direction of President Lee Jae-myung's state affairs.
The two appeared as panelists on the third episode of "National Unity, We Need to Talk," which was broadcast at 10:00 a.m. that day and hosted by Cheong Wa Dae Secretary for National Unity Heo Eun-a.
The broadcast covered measures to stabilize consumer prices, factors behind fluctuations in presidential approval ratings, and ways to resolve political polarization. Regarding President Lee's recent dip in approval ratings, Advisor Jung pointed out, "So many national agenda items are pouring out right now that they are tangled up with one another in a mess," adding, "Not a single national task is being properly sorted out."
He continued, "The issue of dropping indictments is a matter that truly requires the consent of the public," analyzing that "as [the government] failed to organize the energy to democratically rein in the legal circle's monopoly and arbitrariness that had gone wrong in the past, it turned into the president's [personal] issue."
Jung also said, "When it comes to stocks, the government rushed too much, and ETFs literally contributed to turning the market entirely into a speculative gambling house," adding, "There is much to reflect on."
Chairperson Kim noted, "Quickly shifting into a cycle of hope is something the Lee Jae-myung administration did really well," but added, "To be honest, they have not talked much about people's livelihoods."
She continued, "The street-level economy is dying because of the platform economy, and housing issues also persist, yet they are not talking vividly about investments in these areas or 'what they will do,'" advising that active investment in housing funds is necessary for public housing construction.
