According to fire authorities, an accident occurred at 3:08 PM today (16th) in which seven elementary school students fell into the Hantan River in Jeongok-eup, Yeoncheon-gun, while playing in the water.
Responding to a report stating, "It seems children have fallen into the Hantan River," fire authorities dispatched 11 pieces of equipment and 32 personnel, rescuing six of the students.
The remaining student, who was swept away by the water, has not been found yet, and police and fire authorities are currently conducting search operations.
It is reported that the students entered the river impulsively to play in the water with friends on their way home from school.
The area where the children were playing reached depths of up to 2 meters, prompting search authorities to make every effort in the rescue operations.
