NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang is expected to attend the White House state dinner during Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to the United States next week, Reuters reported, citing anonymous sources.
Huang previously joined a delegation to China during U.S. President Donald Trump's state visit there in mid-May, attending a state dinner hosted by President Xi at the time.
During a panel discussion on the 14th, Huang took a phone call from President Trump and shared the conversation with the audience, aligning himself with President Trump's criticism of arguments that the pace of AI development should be slowed down.
NVIDIA's business in China has faced instability since the launch of the second Trump administration, caught in the middle of the artificial intelligence and semiconductor hegemony race between the United States and China.
Amid a tariff war early last year, the Trump administration temporarily banned the sale of NVIDIA AI chips to China before permitting the sale of high-performance H200 chips starting early this year.
However, the Chinese government subsequently de facto restricted domestic companies from purchasing the H200 chips, preventing this from translating into tangible export growth.
Only recently has China begun allowing limited import volumes for select tech companies.
In a media interview following his trip to China in May, Huang expressed regret, stating that "the local semiconductor ecosystem in China is running well" and that the market had effectively been handed over to Huawei.
Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that President Xi and his wife, Peng Liyuan, are scheduled to visit the United States on the 24th, and that he will host a state dinner for President Xi.
This will be only the second time President Trump has hosted a state dinner since taking office for his second term, following the state visit of British King Charles III in April.
