Former President Yoon Suk-yeol, who was indicted on charges of perjury during the treason trial of former Prime Minister Han Duck-soo, has been acquitted in his second trial as well.
The 1st Criminal Division of the Seoul High Court upheld the lower court's ruling today (16th), acquitting the former president, who had been put on trial on perjury charges.
The court ruled that it could not conclude Yoon's testimony—given as a witness at former Prime Minister Han's trial in November of last year, to the effect that "even before former Prime Minister Han proposed it on the day the emergency martial law was declared, there was a plan to hold a cabinet meeting and additionally assemble cabinet members"—was a false statement contrary to his memory.
