Yoo Seung-ho and Young K looked back on their early days as rookies.
On the September 15 broadcast of the SBS variety show Whenever Possible, actor Yoo Seung-ho and singer Young K appeared as "gap friends," drawing attention.
During the episode, the "Yoo-Yoo brothers" successfully completed the first gap mission alongside Yoo Seung-ho and Young K. The four of them then headed out for lunch in high spirits.
They visited a nostalgic home-style meal restaurant. In particular, Yu Jae-seok greeted the owner warmly, saying, "It has been so long since I came here. It really has been a long time."
Yoo Yeonseok caught attention by revealing that it was a place he frequently visited back when he was a rookie. Young K also shared that it brought back vivid memories of his early debut days.
Seeing this, Yoo Seung-ho remarked, "Back in the day, when I went to film sets, everyone else was an older sister or brother, but at some point, people started calling me 'hyung-nim' and 'oppa'." In response, Young K and Yoo Yeonseok noted, "Since you debuted a long time ago, almost everyone else is your junior now." Yoo Seung-ho surprised everyone by revealing that he started working in 1998, marking his 29th year since debut.
When Yoo Seung-ho mentioned that he was just a clueless little kid back then, Yu Jae-seok asked, "You don't remember everything from when you were little, do you?" Yoo Seung-ho replied, "I don't remember everything, but I still remember projects that left a strong impression," adding, "As you know, the sets were tough back then."
Yoo Yeonseok and Yu Jae-seok sympathized, calling it "the era of lawlessness." Yoo Seung-ho then recalled the harsh and difficult filming environments where even minors were not spared.
He continued, "The environment has gotten so much better these days. While filming a chaebol detective drama, it was almost the first time I experienced such an improved set. When I was young, I was fine even after pulling all-nighters for three nights, but now, even with the better environment and heading home right on time when night falls, I get so tired and worn out," drawing laughter by expressing how much things have changed.
Listening to Yoo Seung-ho's story, Young K also reflected on his own fierce past. In response, Yu Jae-seok said, "DAY6 wasn't a group that became widely known to the public right away, but their past songs suddenly surged back up the charts all at once and gained immense popularity. Life is truly mysterious," and asked how long it took after their debut to receive public attention.
Young K recalled his long obscurity, saying, "You Were Beautiful entered the charts six years after its release." Yu Jae-seok drew agreement by stating, "Because you had such great songs and skills, they created synergy when public attention finally gathered."
On this day, the meal tab was decided through a ladder game. Yu Jae-seok, the eldest of the group, lost, drawing cheers from the younger members.
Following that, Yoo Seung-ho drew attention by being chosen to pay for the dessert through a card-drawing game. Among the flashy cards, the restaurant owner picked the most ordinary-looking one, causing Yoo Seung-ho to draw laughter as he protested, "Wait, all the other cards were special and only mine is ordinary."
Meanwhile, toward the end of the broadcast, a preview showed Byun Yohan, known for his unmatched competitive spirit, appearing as a gap friend alongside Roh Jae-won from the film Tazza 4, heightening anticipation for the next episode.
