Green Light for Kim Do-young at Third Base: "Confirmed to Be No Issue"

The national baseball team, aiming for its fifth consecutive Asian Games title, has held its first training session. Star player Kim Do-young, who previously suffered a nose injury, successfully completed defensive drills without any issues, increasing the likelihood that he will take on his regular role as the starting third baseman.

Players wearing the national team uniforms pointed to the Taegeukgi emblem on their chests, demonstrating their resolve.

The players studied footage of Taiwanese players on the electronic scoreboard, including left-handed pitcher Lin Yu-min, who is considered a potential starting pitcher against South Korea.

Kim Do-young, who previously suffered a broken nasal bone, participated in training wearing a protective nose guard. He fielded ground balls at third base, proving that there are no problems with his defense.

[Kim Do-young / National Baseball Team Infielder: (The nose injury) is something you can consider to have zero impact on playing baseball at all. Having had plenty of rest, I really feel like my body is very light.]

He also revealed that he received a check-in call from national team senior Lee Jung-hoo.

Manager Ryu Ji-hyun, who called Kim Do-young over during training to personally check his condition, put his worries to rest.

[Ryu Ji-hyun / National Baseball Team Manager: (Kim Do-young's nose condition) has been confirmed to be completely fine, and we will step-by-step prepare for the tournament over the next week.]

Noh Si-hwan, who was appointed as captain, livened up the atmosphere with a joke when unusually fast batted balls kept coming his way.

The national team will fine-tune their teamwork for two days, play a practice match against Sangmu, and then depart for Nagoya on the 18th.
