An 80-year-old man, identified as A, has been arrested for allegedly wielding a weapon against an acquaintance in Seoul's Dongdaemun District.

Judge Kang Younghoon, the senior duty judge at the Seoul Northern District Court, issued an arrest warrant for A after holding a pre-trial suspect interrogation today (September 15) on charges of attempted murder, citing a risk of flight.

Previously, A was accused of attacking a man in his 70s with a weapon at around 8:20 PM the night before yesterday in Jeonnong-dong, Dongdaemun District, Seoul.

The victim suffered serious injuries to his neck and abdomen and was transported to a hospital, but reports indicate his life is not in danger.

The two men reportedly got into a dispute at a nearby dabang (traditional tea house) just before the crime.

A was apprehended by police about 10 minutes after the incident at a location 600 meters away.
