NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang has strongly agreed with U.S. President Donald Trump's remarks dismissing calls to slow down AI development as a hoax.
According to Bloomberg, while attending a panel discussion at the All-In Summit in Los Angeles on the 14th local time, Huang received a phone call directly from President Trump and connected it to speakerphone so the audience could hear the conversation.
During the call, President Trump criticized the movement to slow down AI development, claiming it stems from political motives or Chinese machinations.
Huang agreed, stating that President Trump has grasped the complex nature of the issue.
President Trump stated that the backlash against AI "plays right into the hands of people who don't want to see AI advance," adding, "This could include political figures, or China might be involved."
Trump also criticized U.S. states that refuse to grant permits for building new data centers.
He said, "Data centers will be like oil for the next 20 to 25 years," and added, "It's bigger than the internet."
He went on to emphasize that data centers are essential for creating national wealth, stating that he will never allow construction to be halted.
While Huang dismissed the risks of AI, he spoke highly of Anthropic researcher Jacob Coxton, who recently resigned citing concerns over those risks.
He noted that Coxton courageously voiced his concerns, adding that organizations must take whistleblower voices seriously.
Huang also pointed out that such fear creates a false dichotomy between rapid innovation and AI safety.
Previously on the 12th, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei proposed slowing down AI development in a lengthy post, which was subsequently supported by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and SpaceX's Elon Musk.
NVIDIA supplies chips essential for running AI models and is the biggest beneficiary of large-scale AI infrastructure construction.
