The suspect in the Paju frozen warehouse murder case has been transferred to the prosecution in custody. Investigations revealed that the suspect had pre-installed a frozen warehouse to trap someone, and requested a day before the crime that a woman come as the gift certificate trading partner.

A man wearing a hat with his head bowed sits in the very back seat of a police escort bus. He is 39-year-old Shin, the suspect in the Paju frozen warehouse murder case.
The police transferred Shin into custody on charges including murder of an abducted person and forgery and uttering of securities, stating that Shin committed the crime to make massive profits by selling 50 billion won worth of forged department store gift certificates.
Initially, the gift certificate appraisal was supposed to be conducted by person A, a gift certificate broker who brought the victim to Paju. However, investigations showed that a day before the incident, Shin requested, "I would prefer a woman to come," leading to A's acquaintance, a female victim, taking over the role instead.
It appears he judged that a woman would be easier to target. In addition, police have captured various circumstances indicating that Shin planned the crime in advance.
First, Shin began preparing the frozen warehouse in mid-July, inquired about rentals on August 3, and signed a one-month lease, installing the frozen warehouse in his cafe a week before the incident occurred.
A police official said, "It appears that Shin installed the frozen warehouse for the purpose of locking up anyone who might interfere if a problem arose during the transaction, and confined her out of concern that the forgery of the gift certificates would be exposed to the outside."
While Shin claims the crime was accidental, arguing that he did not plan to murder from the beginning, the police maintain that they can prove he confined her while knowing she could die.
However, the investigation results so far indicate that no one other than Shin participated in murdering the woman.
Police plan to continue their investigation into individuals involved in the production and distribution of the forged gift certificates.
