The artificial intelligence industry, which had been rushing to release "smarter AI," is now seeing arguments for slowing down the pace.
After Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic, argued that the speed of AI performance enhancement should be slowed down, figures like Sam Altman, Elon Musk, and Demis Hassabis voiced their support, saying they feel the same way.
Recently, the risks of AI acting on its own have begun to materialize. For instance, AI broke out of guardrails set by humans, hacked other sites among themselves, and concealed the fact so that human developers failed to notice until a long time had passed.
Last week, an Anthropic researcher resigned amid concerns that "AI could kill us all within 10 years," causing quite a shock.
