Actor Jeon Won-joo, 86, has finally opened up about her abruptly suspended YouTube channel.
Appearing in a video released on September 11 on the YouTube channel of fellow actor Sa Mi-ja, Jeon Won-joo shared a conversation about their recent lives as friends of 63 years. During the discussion, she touched upon the background of halting her YouTube activities, saying, "I don't watch it much myself, but people told me a lot of people watched it." She then candidly confessed, "We are going to start again. I tried to raise my payments, but they said they would quit, so I just told them let's just do it then."
She continued, "I figured we shouldn't be too calculating about money, so I told them we should just do it together," adding, "When times are hard and difficult, we hold hands and become companions walking together." She also revealed plans to reunite with the original YouTube production team.
Previously, Jeon Won-joo's YouTube channel had its activities abruptly suspended last month on the 24th following an announcement from the production team regarding their departure.
The production team, who had been together since the channel's launch, stated at the time, "We are greeting you as the production team that has produced and operated the Jeon Won's protagonist channel from its opening until now, and we will no longer be producing it. We spent a joyful and happy year thanks to the subscribers and Jeon Won-joo."
Following the news of their departure after nearly a month with no new content uploads, subscribers expressed reactions such as, "Please explain her recent situation properly," and "Are you shutting down the channel like this?" At the time, rumors concerning Jeon Won-joo's health had also surfaced, raising concerns, but her agency drew a line by stating that the channel was not disappearing but rather undergoing reorganization.
As it was emerged that the background of the channel's suspension was a "money issue," some subscribers who encountered the news expressed disappointment. There were also voices of regret, with some saying, "We wanted to see the leisure and wisdom of old age, not money, especially since she already has plenty of money."
Jeon Won-joo's YouTube channel launched last year, gained attention by gathering 110,000 subscribers and has been loved for content featuring her unique wit and life experience.
