The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that it has appointed former Seoul Deputy Mayor for Political Affairs Kim Byung-min as the new CEO of the Seoul Tourism Organization.
His three-year term begins today (the 14th).
The newly appointed CEO Kim is an administration expert who earned a Ph.D. in public administration from Kyung Hee University. He has previously served as an adjunct and visiting professor in the Department of Public Administration at Kyung Hee University and as the Seoul Deputy Mayor for Political Affairs.
Most recently, he served as the co-chair of the G3 Seoul Planning Committee, where he presented the vision of "Seoul as a Global Top City and a Special City for Quality of Life" and oversaw the planning of the "G3 Seoul Plan," which contains 100 core tasks.
"For Seoul to leap into one of the world's top three cities, it is paramount that it establishes itself as a tourism city loved by people around the world," CEO Kim said, expressing his aspirations. "I will do my utmost to make Seoul a world-class tourism city by strengthening city branding that promotes Seoul's unique charms and content to the world, and by actively linking tourism with major Seoul Metropolitan Government policies, such as revitalizing the nighttime economy."
