"My Brother Won't Move"... Tragedy of a Family with Intellectual Disabilities

It was belatedly revealed that a 20-something eldest son in a household where all three family members have intellectual disabilities was found dead several days after his passing.

According to the Seoul Jungnang Police Station today (September 14), A, a man in his 20s with an intellectual disability, was found dead at a home in Jungnang-gu on August 6.

At the time, police responded to a report from A's younger brother stating that A would not move, and discovered A's body, which had already begun to decompose several days after death.

A had been living with his mother and younger brother, but because all of them suffer from severe intellectual disabilities, they reportedly failed to recognize A's death.

Police estimate that A died two to three days before he was discovered and concluded that there was no connection to any crime.

An autopsy by the National Forensic Service confirmed that the cause of A's death was acute cardiac death.
