▲ Freezer Murder Case
The suspect in the murder case involving a freezer at a cafe in Paju, Gyeonggi Province, is set to be handed over to the prosecution.
The Gyeonggi Bukbu Provincial Police Agency plans to transfer a man in his 30s, surnamed Shin, to the prosecution in custody today (September 14).
Shin was arrested on the 4th on charges of killing a woman in her 60s inside a cafe freezer in Paju, Gyeonggi Province.
Police are heavily weighing the possibility that this was a financially motivated, premeditated crime, noting that Shin, who is burdened with debts exceeding 1 billion won, abruptly rented the freezer about a week before the crime, and that counterfeit department store gift certificates with a face value of 50 billion won were found inside the storage unit.
Police have also booked a gift certificate broker, surnamed A, who connected Shin with the victim, on charges of counterfeiting securities, and are continuing their investigation into the motive for the crime.
