Lee Jung-hoo of the San Francisco Giants in Major League Baseball (MLB) remained hitless in four at-bats.
Starting as the seventh-batter and right fielder in a home game against the San Diego Padres for the 2026 MLB regular season held at Oracle Park in San Francisco, California, today (the 12th), Lee went 0-for-4.
His season batting average dipped from 0.281 to 0.279 (142 hits in 509 at-bats).
Lee stepped up as the leadoff hitter in the bottom of the second inning, grounding out to first base against San Diego's left-handed starting pitcher Robbie Ray.
In the bottom of the fourth with two outs, he faced Ray again and hit a hard-hit ball, but it went straight to the second baseman.
In the bottom of the sixth with one out, he had a tenacious nine-pitch battle against Japanese left-handed pitcher Yuki Matsui.
On a full count, he connected on an outside four-seam fastball clocked at 148.5 km/h, but the batted ball went straight to the right fielder.
In the bottom of the ninth, trailing 5-7, he stepped up as the leadoff hitter and hit the first pitch from opposing closer Mason Miller, but it ended as a flyout to left field.
San Diego's Song Sung-mun entered the game as a substitute at second bat and eighth batter replacing Dustin Harris during the bottom of the eighth inning defense, setting up a "Korean Derby" featuring two Korean hitters side by side.
However, Song did not get a turn at bat.
San Diego won 7-5 as closer Miller shut down a bases-loaded crisis with two outs in the ninth without allowing a run.
Extending their winning streak to five games, San Diego improved to 79 wins and 68 losses with a winning percentage of 0.537, maintaining second place in the National League West and widening their gap against the third-place Arizona Diamondbacks in the same division to 0.5 games.
San Francisco stayed in fourth place in the same division with a record of 62 wins and 86 losses and a winning percentage of 0.419.
