A police officer has been caught and investigated for leaking personal information obtained within the police force to outsiders.
The Gyeonggi Bukbu Provincial Police Agency's Metropolitan Investigation Unit announced today (September 12) that it has apprehended and is currently investigating Police Inspector A, who is facing charges including violations of the Personal Information Protection Act.
Police Inspector A is suspected of selling personal information, which was extracted from the police internal network upon request last July, to an outside party.
Having arrested Police Inspector A yesterday, the police are questioning him regarding the details of the crime, including the number of times personal information was leaked and the amount of money received in bribes.
The police also plan to soon summon and question the individual who paid Police Inspector A and requested the personal information.
