A sitting judge has been caught by police on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol.
The Seoul Seocho Police Station is investigating Judge A of the Seoul High Court for alleged violation of the Road Traffic Act.
Judge A is accused of driving a vehicle while intoxicated on a road in Seocho-gu, Seoul, at around 6 AM on the 9th.
Police were dispatched after receiving a report about a vehicle suspected of drunk driving and apprehended Judge A.
There were no casualties resulting from the drunk driving.
It is reported that Judge A's blood alcohol concentration at the time was at the level for license suspension.
After conducting a sobriety test at the time, police sent Judge A home and plan to summon him again later to investigate the exact circumstances of the incident.
So far, the court has not released any official statement.
Earlier this year, another sitting senior judge was disciplined with a salary reduction for drunk driving.
Senior Judge B, who was affiliated with the civil division of the Seoul Central District Court at the time, was caught driving under the influence for about 4 kilometers, starting from a Korean restaurant near Sagajeong Station in Jungnang-gu on the afternoon of December 13 of last year, which was a weekend.
Senior Judge B's blood alcohol concentration at the time was 0.071%, which fell under the license suspension level.
The Supreme Court imposed a three-month salary reduction disciplinary action on Senior Judge B last February.
