Singer Jang Yoon-jeong's Mother Sentenced to 10 Months in Prison for Fraud Using Daughter's Name

The mother of singer Jang Yoon-jeong, who is accused of swindling tens of millions of won from an acquaintance, has been sentenced to 10 months in prison.

Between September of the year before last and August of last year, the mother obtained 31 million won across three instances from an acquaintance under the guise of investment, while mentioning singer Jang Yoon-jeong.

The first-instance court explained the reasoning behind the sentence by noting that the nature of the crime was severe given the methods and outcomes used, and that victim restitution has not been made.

It was also reported that the court took into consideration the fact that she had served prison time in 2018 for failing to repay money borrowed from an acquaintance, as well as having recently received a summary order for fraud.
