Regarding South Korean nationals missing due to the massive floods in Nepal, President Lee Jae-myung has instructed relevant officials to review necessary measures that reflect the wishes of the missing persons' families.
Cheong Wa Dae stated through a spokesperson's office notice, "Upon receiving reports on the difficulties faced by the families of the missing citizens in Nepal, President Lee instructed that the families' wishes be fully listened to and respected, and that necessary measures be reviewed so that their wishes can be reflected as much as possible."
It also added, "The government intends to continue its efforts to support the families of South Korean nationals affected by the Nepal floods moving forward."
Cheong Wa Dae made the announcement immediately after President Lee arrived at Seoul Air Base this afternoon upon concluding his state visit to France.
Earlier in the day, the families of three Korea Southern Power employees missing in the devastating Nepal floods held a press conference in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, expressing concern over the possibility that the Korea Disaster Relief Team (KDRT) dispatched by the South Korean government might end its search operations, and urged the government to halt early withdrawal.
