A netizen who distributed false videos targeting IVE member Jang Wonyoung has been sentenced to prison by a court.
On the 9th, her agency Starship Entertainment announced through IVE's official social media service (SNS), "In a case where the agency has been taking legal action through its legal representative, Kim & Chang, the court recently sentenced the defendant—who was indicted for crimes including the distribution of false video footage targeting our artist (Jang Wonyoung)—to a prison term."
The agency also emphasized, "We responded strictly throughout the investigation and trial process of this case, and we will continue to hold violators legally accountable to the end under a zero-tolerance principle for severe acts of infringement on our artists' rights and interests."
Starship has continuously monitored and requested investigations into the spread of false information, defamation, insults, sexual harassment, malicious slander, and the production and distribution of false videos taking place online, including on social media.
On this day, Starship additionally filed complaints against malicious post writers and so-called "cyber wreckers" who repeatedly posted malicious content targeting Jang Wonyoung.
Starship added, "We will continue monitoring not only the initial creators of malicious posts and content but also accounts and channels that repeatedly post and distribute them, taking necessary civil and criminal legal measures," and "We will proceed with necessary legal procedures regardless of domestic or overseas platforms, even if anonymity, pseudonyms, or overseas platforms are used."
