Byun Yohan Says 'Tazza' Series Reached Part 4 Thanks to Cho Seung-woo

Actor Byun Yohan shared his thoughts on bringing the 20-year "Tazza" series to a close.

Attending the press preview for the film "Tazza: The Song of Beelzebub" held at Yongsan CGV in Seoul on the afternoon of the 9th, Byun Yohan said, "I feel relieved to be able to conclude the series after 20 years."

Byun Yohan previously revealed that he personally contacted Cho Seung-woo, the first "Tazza" star, after deciding to take on the lead role of Jang Tae-young. Byun Yohan said, "Because there was the 'Tazza' starring senior actor Cho Seung-woo, and because there are stories up to Part 4 written by comic artist Huh Young-man, I think it was possible for 'Tazza 4' to come out," adding, "I hope those two will watch this movie and tell me that I worked hard."

Director Choi Dong-hoon's "Tazza" (2006) is like a bible of Korean film series. Parts 2 and 3 that followed were compared to "Tazza", drawing mixed reviews from audiences. In terms of box office performance, they also failed to surpass the first film.

Regarding these results, director Choi Kuk-hee, who helmed "Tazza: The Song of Beelzebub", expressed his affection for the first film and his respect for director Choi Dong-hoon, saying, "Director Choi Dong-hoon's 'Tazza' is such an amazing movie. It's a film from 20 years ago, but it still looks hip and fun when watched again today."

He also added, "Because people compare them to the first film, Parts 2 and 3 seem to be undervalued, but I think those works were also well-made with each director's own colors. However, because 'Tazza' is such a masterpiece, comparisons seem inevitable. Comparisons with the first film are bound to happen. Our movie is no exception. However, we worked hard on it without worrying about such things," revealing his confidence in Part 4.

"Tazza: The Song of Beelzebub" is a crime film where Jang Tae-young (Byun Yohan), who thought he had the world in his hands through an online casino business, and his close friend with the same name Park Tae-young (Roh Jae-won), who took everything from him, meet again in a global gambling ring for a round of revenge. It is scheduled to be released on September 23.
