Director Choi Kook-hee, who helmed the film 'Tazza: The Song of Beelzebub', has emphasized the differentiating points and strengths of his film compared to previous installments in the series.
Attending the press and distribution preview for 'Tazza: The Song of Beelzebub' held at CGV Yongsan in Seoul on the afternoon of the 9th, Director Choi stated, "'Tazza 4' is a work that takes on the character of a spin-off, unlike parts 1, 2, and 3. Right from the original work, the drama was stronger and darker than the previous three installments. Above all, it focuses on the aspect of human desire. Envy, jealousy, and betrayal are vividly expressed, so I tried to melt those specific points of the original work well into the movie."
Regarding the casting of Byun Yohan and Roh Jae-won as two protagonists who turn from friends into enemies, he explained, "Jang-tae and Park-tae are two completely different figures, so I tried out various combinations of actors with contrasting vibes. In particular, I envisioned Jang-tae as someone who, to anyone's eyes, is handsome, charming, lucky, and born with everything, whereas Park-tae is someone who achieved success later in life through his own efforts. That led me to combine these two actors, and it was a thoroughly satisfying process."
Sharing his thoughts on directing the fourth installment, Director Choi said, "As a fan who has loved the 'Tazza' series for a long time, it was an honor to work on bringing the series to a close."
'Tazza: The Song of Beelzebub' is a crime film about Jang Taeyoung (Byun Yohan), who thought he had the world in his hands through an online casino business, and his close friend of the same name, Park Taeyoung (Roh Jae-won), who stripped away everything from him, as they reunite in a global gambling arena to wage a final round of revenge. Directed by Choi Kook-hee, who also made 'Default', the film stars Byun Yohan and Roh Jae-won.
The film is scheduled to be released on September 23.
