Singer-theater actor IVY (Park Eun-hye) has successfully wrapped up her performances in "Chicago" on Broadway in New York.
IVY recently took to her social media to share the emotions of her final performance at New York's Ambassador Theatre, stating, "I have safely completed my three-week journey."
She stated, "Thanks to many people, especially the Korean fans who came out to watch so I could finish 'Chicago' well on its home turf, it gave me a tremendous amount of strength. Having been a work and favorite character close to my heart since 2012, it was an extraordinary honor and feeling to play Roxie Hart on her home turf in New York."
She bowed her head and added, "Thanks to everyone who supported me behind the scenes so a Korean actor could stand on a Broadway stage, I was able to finish safely. I sincerely thank you for your support." She also asked for anticipation, saying, "I plan to take the stage as Roxie Hart in Korea as well, so please look forward to it."
Earlier, IVY drew attention by posting a cute proof shot of herself on a massive Times Square billboard featuring her face and the phrase "IVY IS ROXIE HART," along with the caption, "Mom, I'm on a Broadway billboard." This marked the first time in the history of Broadway's production of "Chicago" that a Korean actor played the lead role of Roxie Hart, earning praise for elevating the status of Korean musicals.
Having played Roxie more than 592 times in Korea and earning praise as an "unrivaled Roxie," IVY captivated local audiences in New York with her skillful stage presence and captivating acting.
Having concluded her short yet intense journey in New York, IVY is now preparing to meet domestic audiences once again. The Korean run of the musical "Chicago" featuring IVY is set to open this December at the LG Arts Center Seoul.
