The Ministry of National Defense announced yesterday (the 8th) that it has dispatched a fact-finding team to the Middle East ahead of a decision on the deployment to the Strait of Hormuz, which has been requested by the United States.
According to the Ministry of National Defense, the fact-finding team departed for the United Arab Emirates over the weekend and is currently examining the operational conditions for a deployed unit locally.
The fact-finding team is reportedly expected to return home as early as this week, and upon their return, the results of the investigation will be reported to the National Security Council.
An official from the Ministry of National Defense explained that while it is true the team was sent to the Middle East to help inform the decision on troop deployment, a decision to deploy to the Strait of Hormuz has not yet been made.
