President Lee Jae-myung, currently on a state visit to France, held a summit with French President Emmanuel Macron lasting about 60 minutes. The two leaders agreed to maintain close cooperation on the issue of the Strait of Hormuz.

Stepping out of their vehicle, President Lee and the First Lady are greeted by the French Minister of Defense and a military band.
After laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier honoring World War I fallen soldiers, President Lee shook hands one by one with Korean War veterans to greet them.
[Thanks to you, the Republic of Korea has been able to develop and exist as a globally recognized nation to this day.]
President Lee and President Macron held a one-hour summit with their respective delegations at the Élysée Palace in Paris.
The two leaders agreed to continue close cooperation for the stability of the Strait of Hormuz and freedom of navigation.
This reaffirmed the commitment to contribute expressed at the multilateral summit on Hormuz led by the UK and France last April.
[We have agreed to continue our close cooperation so that freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and the stability of global supply chains can be restored as soon as possible.]
The joint statement also included a commitment to work together with the international community for the restoration of peace and reconstruction in Ukraine.
In addition, President Lee expressed gratitude for President Macron's support and willingness to cooperate regarding the South Korean government's Korean Peninsula policy, stating that the two nations will cooperate closely for peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and in the international community.
The two leaders also signed memorandums of understanding spanning various fields, including advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence and semiconductors, culture, military secrets, and industrial cooperation.
Following the summit with French President Emmanuel Macron, President Lee Jae-myung is scheduled to attend a business roundtable to discuss ways to foster cooperation between businesses of both countries.
