The South Korean men's national basketball team has selected forward Mun Jung-hyun (kt) to replace forward Ahn Young-jun (SK), who has been ruled out of the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games due to an injury.
The Korea Basketball Association announced today (September 8) that it has replaced Ahn Young-jun with Mun Jung-hyun in the final roster for the men's national team.
Ahn Young-jun, a standout two-way player in domestic professional basketball and the regular season MVP of the 2024-2025 season, was included in the final Asian Games roster but injured his finger during an evaluation match against the Philippines held in Suwon on the 4th.
After dislocating his left finger in a collision with an opposing player, Ahn was deemed unable to compete in the Asian Games, and Mun Jung-hyun was ultimately tapped to fill the national team's forward line.
Mun Jung-hyun, who made his professional debut after being selected first overall by Suwon kt in the 2023 rookie draft and has been playing as a starter, participated in the 2027 FIBA World Cup qualifiers held in July.
Currently participating in kt's preseason training camp in Japan, he is scheduled to travel to Nagoya and join the national team tomorrow morning.
Led by head coach Nikolais Mazurs (Latvia), the national team departed for Japan yesterday to dive into final preparations.
The national team will play its first Group A match of the Asian Games group stage against Saudi Arabia the day after tomorrow.
