The Fair Trade Commission (FTC) has launched an on-site inspection into Asung Daiso, the operator of the household goods retail chain, over allegations of violating the Large-Scale Retail Business Act.
According to industry sources, the FTC sent investigators to the Asung Daiso headquarters in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, today (Sept. 8) to conduct the inspection.
The FTC is reportedly looking into whether Asung Daiso returned supplied products to suppliers without justifiable reasons.
Along with this, the FTC is also known to be examining whether Asung Daiso demanded economic benefits from suppliers and unfairly forced them to shoulder costs related to promotional events.
In April, the FTC conducted an on-site inspection of Asung Daiso, alongside Olive Young, over suspected violations of the Large-Scale Retail Business Act.
This latest probe is known to be an additional on-site inspection aimed at supplementing the previous investigation.
An FTC official stated, "We cannot confirm details regarding individual cases."
