Police have failed to identify a suspect after a two-month investigation into an incident where a watermelon-sized stone weighing 2.8 kilograms plummeted onto a parked car in Busan.
According to the Busan Haeundae Police Station on September 8, a stone measuring 19 centimeters in width, 12 centimeters in length, and weighing 2.8 kilograms crashed onto a passenger vehicle parked near Haeundae Beach on July 10.
The stone penetrated the vehicle's roof and was found near a child safety seat on the back seat.
Fortunately, no casualties occurred as no one was inside the vehicle at the time.
Believing the stone had fallen from a nearby corridor-style apartment building, police conducted an investigation for two months.
The search focused on the location because stones similar in shape to the fallen rock were used to prop open iron doors in the apartment building.
Police submitted the stone to the National Forensic Service for DNA analysis and questioned apartment residents, but ultimately failed to find a suspect.
An official from the Haeundae Police Station stated, "We have classified the case as an 'unsolved case pending further leads' and plan to resume the investigation if a similar incident occurs."
