The film "Seven O'Clock Breakfast Club for the Brokenhearted," starring Suzy and Lee Jin-wook, is scheduled for release in December.
"Seven O'Clock Breakfast Club for the Brokenhearted" follows Sagang (Suzy), a flight attendant who has experienced a breakup but has not yet truly said goodbye, and Jihoon (Lee Jin-wook), a consultant. After accidentally discovering swapped "breakout mementos" at a breakfast meeting and setting out to find their owners, the two begin their journey toward a real farewell. The film is based on author Baek Young-ok's bestselling novel of the same name. Having been unveiled at the Busan International Film Festival last year, it is getting an official theatrical release about a year later.
The poster released alongside the confirmation of the release date features Sagang and Jihoon alongside the phrase, "It is over, but I want to end it." The expressions of the two individuals carrying the traces of a farewell leave viewers curious about the kinds of love they have left behind.
The launch trailer, accompanied by Sagang's narration, captures the lingering emotions of not being able to easily return to daily life even after love has ended. It then shows Jihoon attending the breakfast meeting after leaving behind happy moments with his romantic partner, and a new story begins as the two meet in an unfamiliar space.
The film explores the end of love and the time that follows as people carrying the pain of heartbreak gather at a breakfast meeting, exchanging each other's "breakup mementos" and comforting one another through their losses.
Suzy takes on the role of Sagang, portraying the complex emotions following a breakup, while Lee Jin-wook transforms into Jihoon, harboring a lingering sense of loss that is hard to erase, and delivers an internalized performance. The film is directed by Lim Sun-ae, who drew attention with the films "An Old Lady" and "Ms. Apocalypse."
The film will be available in theaters this coming December.
