Actor Choi Minsik has explained the meaning behind his remark, "That Han So-hee?"
Attending an interview commemorating the release of the film "The Intern" held in Samcheong-dong, Seoul, on the afternoon of the 7th, Choi talked about his reaction when Han So-hee was first mentioned during the casting stage, saying, "She is a very young and fashionable friend, right? I thought to myself, 'When would I ever get to work with such a new generation?' At the same time, I also wondered if there might be too much of a generational gap."
Choi continued, "However, once we started filming, she turned out to be easygoing, cool, and straightforward. I liked those aspects. Above all, I felt that she had pledged her life to this project. Seeing her desperation to pull it off made me think that another 'Korean-style Jules' would be born. At the same time, I thought I needed to pull myself together," mentioning the motivation given to him by his junior.
He shared that Han's drive stood out during the casting process as well. Choi revealed, "I was cast a long time ago, and as director Kim Doyoung took the helm, we had many discussions about the project during the preparation stage. There were a few other candidates besides actor Han So-hee for the role of 'Sunoo'. But Han So-hee wanted it more actively than anyone else. The person who wants to do it best is the right fit, and since she wanted it so badly and lunged at it with ambition, I said it was right to give such a friend the opportunity."
"The Intern" depicts an office life that transcends generations and job ranks, beginning when "Keeho" (Choi Minsik), a 37-year veteran silver intern, joins the company of "Sunoo" (Han So-hee), who rapidly emerged as a dark horse in the fashion industry three years after launch. It is a remake of the 2015 global hit Hollywood film of the same name, "The Intern". Choi Minsik took on the role of silver intern Keeho, while Han So-hee played the young CEO Sunoo, showcasing their acting chemistry.
The film is scheduled to be released in theaters on September 16.
